I’m at rest, so don’t cry

it will be easier as time goes by.

As my body lies here, it is only a shell ,

God has called me home , so I say farewell.

Now I am happy , very content

for the things I’ve done wrong, I repent.

You know and I know that it’s hard on earth

S o , you should not cry at death , but at birth.

As you are now, once was I.

As I am now, so must you be,

Prepare yourselves to follow me.

I have no worries, pain, and fears

F or I am with God , so dry your tears.

“Remembering Wanda Jane Shipman”

Wanda Jane Shipman (Hawkins) was born June 7, 1955 to the late Luther Jackson and Betty Jane Hawkins in Montgomery , Maryland. She departed this life Thursday, November 4, 2021 at home, peacefully in her sleep. She is survived by her Ex-husband Howard Shipman Jr. of Savannah, GA. She was preceded in death by her father Luther Jackson Hawkins, her brother Frank Hawkins , and her mother Betty Jane Hawkins.

Wanda Jane Shipman was employed as a burglar alarm technician , then she worked as a waitress for many years until her health started declining . She loved holidays, especially Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas ; where she could be with her family, S he loved to cook and host and show people a good time. She loved singing. As a little girl she would sit next to her grandmother Nanny and sing while she played the guitar. She was well-known in her community ; any state or place she went she made friends. She l oved helping , and caring for people. She had the biggest heart in the world ; everyone she met she touched their hearts in a special way. Everyone called her mom!

Wand a Jane Shipman leaves to cherish her memories: Two daughters, Yulanda Jane Shipman of Savannah GA; Audrey Marie Byrd of Jamaica, NY; Three sons, Howard Shipman J r. of Long Island City, NY; Michael Justin Byrd of Hollis , NY; Quentin Hawkins of Jamaica, NY; Two sisters , Nancy Provenzano of Plano, TX; Jacqueline Renee Hawkins of Winter Haven, FL; 8 grand - children, Daniel Quenell Shipman ; Jaydinn Austin Shipman; Howard Shipman Jr IV; Sethaniel Ian Shipman all of Bronx, NY ; Darien Abel Shipman of PA ; Shamar Issaiah Gardner; Tabitha Jane Dent both of Savannah, GA; Alaisha Amani Shipman of NJ; Three great grand-children, Sulana Monae Shipman-Grant; Daniel Quenell Shipman Jr. both of Savannah, GA; Landon Darrison Shipman of PA; and a host of nieces, nephews , cousins, other relatives, and friends.

“ I kept putting off contacting your mom which I shall forever regret... But I never stopped & asking God to move her out of NY & to bring her where it was safe for her.... After learning she was homeless, my was broken... but I was not by any means in a position where I could help ... I selfishly thought by trying to reach out to help her/save her, I myself would drown with no one being able to rescue me as in the past... I looked at going to your mother's aide was like Jonah going to Nineveh... I saw your mom drowning in the ocean & if I attempted to rescue her, I myself would drown...that I would need a life preserver to throw out to her in order to rescue her... Which I tried to do thru & seeking the only One I knew who could help her & deliver her & rescue her. You know, Our Lord had placed it on my to reach out to Wanda...but I couldn't...I kept putting it off. Now, it's too late; which I shall forever regret. Hopefully, I'll see her again & will be able to ask her to forgive me of my selfishness... I know your mother was very proud of you Yulanda!!! Each time we did speak, she was always bragging on you from your working at the bank, going to school & graduating with honors to your children... She had always bragged on you & Howard how he worked on a movie set for a TV show...I know she loved you & your brothers & sister very very much...Y'all were her life... Well...I know that your mom was a survivor & did the best she could do to raise you & your brothers & sister & all on her own with the support of no one... She had a tough & hard life & only wanted the best for her family... She basically raised herself & came from a totally unstable biological family. She did her best to survive the life she lived & the choices she made... Sad to say... the wounds your mother incurred while at a very young & tender age would never be overcome & would dictate her future...life & choices... Now, she can rest in peace & no longer have to run from the lifelong demons that haunted her. Please Yulanda, for the sake of your mom & our Lord & Savior Jesus... Always Do your Best...! Do your Best to walk hand in hand with our Savior Jesus... Generational curses are very powerful & can ONLY be broken by the blood of Jesus... Only the blood of the Lamb can overcome these 'forces of evil' & provide hope & a future... In God alone... our Hope can stand... Jeremiah 29:11-14 Proverbs 3:5,6 Put your TRUST in God & God alone!!! 'Mankind' will ALWAYS let you down, but God IS ALWAYS faithful! In His way & His time! Seek Him from the & He will be found & will ALWAYS make a way. God's ways are not our ways... You know, Yulanda, I learned John 3:16 from your mom when I was a little little girl...I had always looked up to your mom & loved her sooo much & yes, it did take some time for me to forgive her on 2 major occasions but I did...Sad to say, I never told her. For this, I shall always regret...Maybe things would have been different... Well... Keep making your mama proud & keep walking in the footsteps of Jesus & seeking His guidance, counsel and direction for you & your fami ly’s life & NEVER let go of Jesus' hand! He is will never leave you nor forsake you!!! God bless you & your siblings Yulanda. May God comfort you during this time of loss, give you strength & wisdom & keep y'all safe. Psalm 20 Numbers 6:24-27. ”
