Wanda Yvette Hamilton

Wanda Yvette Hamilton, affectionately known as “Wan”
passed into eternity on the morning of March 18, 2024, in the
Bronx, New York.
She was born on May 19, 1960 in Charleston, SC; the eldest
daughter of the late Nathaniel Sr. & Victoria Hamilton, who
moved to the Bronx in 1961. Wanda attended Jane Addams
High School and received her Bachelor of Arts from the
College of New Rochelle, and her Master’s Degree in
Psychology from Walden University.
Wanda was employed by the US Postal Service for over 29
years until her retirement in 2019. She was a member of
Macedonia Baptist Church of Harlem for over 20 years under
the leadership of the late Reverend Isaac B. Graham. She
served as a Youth Leader, and on various ministries
including the Ushers, Women In Dance, Choir, and Christian
Education.
Wanda was an avid traveler. She loved cruising and
adventuring with family and friends. She was always on the
go, enjoying life and people, especially spending time with
her large family, near and far.
Wanda was the matriarch of the Hamilton siblings. She was
like a second mother to all her nieces and nephews, as well
as to cousins. She took them on many trips and spoiled
every single one of them, as well as some of her friends’
children. Although she was the fun aunt, she was also firm
and feisty.
Wanda will be deeply missed by her seven siblings: one
brother Nathaniel Jr. (Yvette), 6 sisters, Karen, Linda
(Robert), Natalie, Louise, Cheryl (Lawrence) and Valda. Her
precious nieces and nephews, Terrence Sr. (Rolanne), Percy,
Davon, Markita, Chequana, Akiem, Gregory, Mark Jr.,
Shayah, Dante, Jaleel, Khalfani (Abigail), Devante, and Tariq;
twenty-nine grand nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, a
host of cousins, and friends. Additionally, she leaves behind
devoted sister friends Rev. Veleria Wooten, Pat Sutherland,
and Linda Brown.
