Tania Monteith Bailey

Our beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, Tania Nadine Monteith-Bailey, age
48, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 12th, 2023, in her home in New York, NY.
She was born on July 23rd, 1974, in Kingston, Jamaica, to Delroy Monteith and Dian DeLeon as
the eldest of six, after graduating from primary school in Kingston, Jamaica. Tania migrated to
the United States with her parents, Dian DeLeon and Everoy Samuels, at the age of fourteen.
Tania attended and graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in 1992. Years later, Tania
married her husband, Kenneth, on September 11th, 2010. Tania loved her children
unconditionally and was always there for each of them, no matter the sacrifice. She is caring,
thoughtful, persistent, strong-willed, and independent.
Tania's hobbies include crochet, crafts, cooking, and crossword puzzles. Tania displayed
independence from a young age, which she learned from her grandmother Winnifred Bailey. She
loved working in the community and particularly enjoyed her time working at Kings County
Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. Despite becoming a mother with her eldest daughter Crystal at a
young age, Tania lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: chatting with friends and
family and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved reading her bible,
completing crossword puzzles, and listening to music. She was always singing and dancing.
Some of her favorite artists were Anita Baker, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Tony Braxton,
Sean Paul, and Bob Marley. Her happy place was being with her grandchildren at the park. Tania
had a vibrant soul that was unmatched. Passionate and full of radiance. Always open to meeting
new people and making friends. The life of the party. Tania lived a full life and dedicated her
time to her four children and three great-grandchildren. Watching them grow and develop was
one of her greatest joys.
Tania is survived by her husband Kenneth Bailey, mother Dian, stepfather Everoy, and children
Crystal (daughter), Shania (daughter), Rebecca (daughter), and Emmanuel (son); her sisters
Shirlene, Camille, Alicia, Dianedra, Danielle, and her beautiful grandchildren Dante, Zaiden,
Nye'elly, and Leontae (due October 2023).
