Ronald Lennon Curtis

November 3, 1964 — January 7, 2022

Ronald “Ron” Lennon Curtis was born November 3rd, 1964, in NYC to Rosita Lennon and Ronald Curtis Sr. Although his father left his life early, Morris James took over the role and was a presence during his life. Ron grew up in the Amsterdam Housing Projects and attended Louis D. Brandeis High School. In March 1984, Ronald enlisted in the United States Army and was able to finish his studies within. He served as a vehicle mechanic, seeing the end of the Cold War and serving during the Gulf War. Through the military he was able to travel to other countries such as Germany and Iraq. During this period, Ronald met Janice. Through this union, Luther Curtis was brought into the world on April 21, 1990. In 1992, he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant with multiple achievements and awards. Not long after returning and settling down in NY, Ron met Karen Curtis. They married December 2nd, 1994, and he became the father to her young daughter, Shanttee Cunningham. With this union, Ronald gained a large family, mixed with nieces, nephews, and acquaintances. He was known to many as “Uncle Ron”, the quiet loner and prankster with a silly sense of humor. Someone who preferred to live a simple life and kept to himself. After some time, both Ron and Karen decided to move their lives somewhere else, eventually settling in North Carolina where they spent over 2 decades. Here, Ron experienced careers in both car mechanics and truck driving; the latter being what he’d spend the rest of his life doing. Through long haul trucking Ronald was able to see more of America, sometimes with his wife and daughter in tow. On August 6th, 2014, Luther had his first child and Ron became a grandfather to a wonderful boy, Lexington Curtis; on July 11th 2017, Luther would help him become a grandfather to another, this time a beautiful girl, Lynnex Curtis. Making yet another big move, Ron and his family moved to Arizona in 2020, a place that both he and Karen enjoyed in the past and longed to move to. And yet too soon and unexpectedly, did his story end there. Ron made his departure from the world on January 7th, 2022 and he leaves behind a family who thank him for the joy that he did bring and wish him peace in the afterlife. www.tcarrillofuneralservice.com
