Michelle Samerson was born on May 21st 1967 in Port of Spain General Hospital on the beautiful island of Trinidad.
Michelle was raised in Mt. D’or Road Champ Fleurs where she attended Mt. D’or Government School.
She furthered her studies whilst attending San Juan Government secondary school and later the University of the West Indies. Michelle migrated to the United States in 1987.
Her first jobs when she came to New York were babysitting.
Her clients who are now close family friends include the Wolfsons, the Bigelows, and the Hendras. She was later employed at American Transit Insurance Company working in the Underwriting Department for several years. After several years on the job, Michelle was called by the MTA to accept a job as a train conductor in 2011.
In this job, she advanced quickly and eventually became a supervisor after only 4 years. While her job was physically and mentally demanding she loved it and made lifelong connections with many people that she worked with closely.
Michelle was married to the love of her life Eric and had two children, Harrison and Taylor.
They met 26 years ago, one eventful night at a party in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Her favorite things to do in her free time included watching TV every night with her kids, taking family vacations, and hosting dinners for special occasions. She has always been well known for her cooking talent. Her callaloo and chinese chicken dishes were two of her most famous dishes that were guaranteed to be made at every event.
Some of her fondest memories that she had include spending school holidays as a child in Moruga with her cousins, aunts and grandmother where they would play, eat and enjoy each others’ company.
Michelle left us on March 11th, 2023 to join her beloved sister Helen, cousin Glenda, Aunty Maggie, Uncle Vernon, Uncle Singh, Aunty Bee, Aunty Ike and our beloved Mama.
Michelle is survived by her husband Eric Thomas Her kids, Harrison Thomas and Taylor Thomas Her parents, Winston and Joyce Samerson Sisters: Helen, Vilda, and Sommer
