Martha Rebecca Delaney was born May 2, 1930 to Bernard McKinley Delaney, Sr. and Nannie Emma Scruggs-Delaney in Jetersville, VA. She was the oldest of her siblings Bernard Jr. (RIP), Vivian, Jean and Shelia (RIP). She graduated from Russell Grove HS in 1948.  In 1952, Martha left Virginia and moved to the Bronx in NYC. She was blessed with four daughters --- Carolyn Delaney (RIP)(Galloway/Ford), Lorraine Delaney-Thomas, Mary Ann Gasper-Smith, and Martha Gasper (RIP).

Martha joined Whosoever Will Baptist Church in 1977 where she served faithfully for over 30 years. As a devoted member she sang on the choir and served as an usher and nurse.  In 1987, Martha became a Deaconess at Whosoever Will Baptist Church and eventually became Mother of the Church. In 2007 she joined Mt. Gilead B.C. where she attended faithfully for a short time until a significant decline in her health.

Martha loved God immensely. She prayed and read her bible daily.  She loved listening to gospel music and watching gospel programs. Martha loved her children and grandchildren dearly and was always busy in their lives. She was a strong and devoted woman not only to God but her family as well.
