Marcia James

March 17, 1967 — March 19, 2025

Marcia Lorraine James was born in Birmingham, England on March 17th,
1967 to Nathaniel and Sonia James. Marcia spent her early childhood years in
England along with her sister Paula and her brother Stephen along with many
cousins, aunts and uncles.
At 8 years old, Marcia migrated with her family to the United States. As the
family settled into NewYork city life, Dalton her youngest brother was born.
Marcia was the big sister to all her siblings and lead a great example. Marcia
was the first James to graduate high school, graduating from Evander Childs
where she graduated with honors and was an all star in track and field.
After graduating Evander Childs, Marcia followed in her mother's footsteps
and attended John Jay College to study criminal law. Following her law
studies at John Jay College, Marcia gained valuable knowledge as a paralegal
in her early 20's. This exposed Marcia to the power of paperwork, where she
found her niche. With these priceless skills including managing commercial
properties with AVJ, she went off to become a force in the community. As life
would have it, it was at this time, her loving daughter Shafar was born which
truly made Marcia's life compete.
She teamed up with Lenford "Lenny" Edie at Lenny's Home Realty and
became a lifesaver, especially for Caribbean people fighting for a piece of the
American dream. And if your dream turned into a nightmare, Marcia could
process your divorce. As a property management expert, immigration
specialist, business bookkeeper, accountant, auditer, tax preparer, she could
do your payroll, certified notary public and the list goes on and on. Marcia
could do it all. Marcia would later team up with Terence "Terry" Griffin at his
company All Skill Minority Manpower incorporated to help his thriving
business reach new heights.
In July 2019, Marcia experienced the devastating loss of our sister Paula James
which was a heart breaking and life changing event. Marcia became the
primary care taker of her parents Nathaniel and Sonia James and as usual, she
took care of business. From their medication to breakfast, lunch, and dinner,
she made sure their health and well being was her first priority. But that never
stopped her from turning up!! Budweiser in one hand and a smile that could
light up the room was her trademark. Amongst family she was never sad, and
she wouldn't let you be sad either!! Family was everything to Marcia, that's
why she reached out to everybody, because her love had no limits.
Marcia leaves behind her daughter (Shafar), Parents (Nathaniel and Sonia
James), Significant other (Luke) Brothers (Stephen and Dalton), Sister in law
(LaTasha), Nephews (Michael, Julani, Aston and Landon) Neices (Alaisha
and Kayla) Grandnieces (Krystina, Ava Lee, Mya, and London), and a endless
list of family and friends who love her and will miss her dearly.
Marcia was, is and will always be the life of the party!!!
Rest in Peace and Power, Marcia Lorraine James.
