Jennie Emily Quintana was born in New York City, on June 24, 1937, The first of 6 children of immigrants from Puerto Rico, Felicita Prieto and Silvano Quintana, a decorated World War 2 veteran. Born and raised in Spanish Harlem, Manhattan was her playground and Central Park was her backyard. A student of an exclusive Catholic Education from first grade through high school, she would later attend and graduate secretarial school. She married Steve Jimenez on December 6, 1958 and had 2 sons, Steve, born January 18, 1961 and Kenneth, born September 19, 1965. She started working at the Bronx based Dexter Chemical corporation in 1964 as a secretary and would stay there for over 35 years until retiring as an executive and office manager. Jennie spent a third of her life in Manhattan, a third in the Bronx and a third in Westchester. She spent the last several years of her life in Newport News, Virginia, where her son Steve lived.
Jennie was a dutiful daughter, a caring sister, a loving aunt and a devoted mother. Family was always at the center of her life.
She also cherished her two dogs, Zsa Zsa and Charo.
Her many interests included traveling, bowling (she was a league bowler for over two decades), tennis, reading, knitting, cooking, gardening, photography and card playing. She loved music and loved to dance. She also loved watching her soap opera’s and novellas. She was the vice-president of the board of the co-op she lived in for over a decade.
She leaves behind a lifetime of wonderful memories of a life well lived. Her legacy continues though her family and their enduring memories of her.
