Ian Geoffrey Hill age 62, passed away on Thursday evening February 25 th . Ian was born and
raised in the Bronx, NY. He was a graduate of Dewitt Clinton High School and received his AA
from Bronx Community College. In 1987, he went on to begin his career as a NYC Correction
Officer and after 26 successful & impactful years, Ian decided to retire his shield. He was known
as the “Candy Man” at work because he always had the best snacks and candies on hand.
Growing up, Ian was a part of the American Bowling Congress and he also loved sports. Ian will
be remembered for his constant presence in the lives of the people that knew him. Ian was a
man full in his Faith in God and was always full of jokes and knew how to make anyone he came
across smile. He took pride in being a provider for his children and being reliable to everyone he
cared about. Ian also took to fashion very easily, possessing his own sense of style and a great
love for sneakers. His lively personality and Love for life will always be associated with the
thoughts of him. Ian was thee self-proclaimed ‘Selfie King’ and would always take pictures of
everything. Thankfully, we will always have those memories to keep with us. He was such a
funny guy and yet overflowed with wisdom and kindness in his heart that he so effortlessly
shared with others. His comforting presence and always having the right words to say will be
deeply missed. His mother, Myrtle Borden was an Educator, and his father Floyd Hill was a
Veteran of the U.S. Preceded by both of his parents, and his eldest brother Reginald Hill. Ian will
be survived by his wife Adeina Hill, his children DaJuan Hill, Asha Hill, Safiya Anderson, Brianna
Hill, Ianna Hill, Tyler Hill, Ashton Hill, Ava Hill and his two brothers Guy Hill, and Frey Hill as well
as many close family members. To have known Ian is to be able to consider oneself blessed due
to his lasting impressions on whoever he met, and his presence will forever be felt. Today we
are celebrating not only his Life, but his Birthday and official homegoing. A sincere Thank You to
Ian, for not only leaving us with your Legacy, but being able to experience your unconditional
Love and hold your sweet memories dear to our hearts. Happy Birthday, Candy Man.
