Hortencia Velazquez

Hortencia Velazquez, best known as Sasule, was 88 years old when she
passed away on January 12, 2022.
Sasule was born in Arroyo, Puerto Rico to Sixto Rodriguez and Francisca
DeJesus on October 30, 1933. She was 1 of 6 siblings. As a child, she
enjoyed helping her father deliver ice in their small town. She later became a
housekeeper.
She and her first husband, Alexandro Alicea had a daughter together,
Milagros. Sasule then remarried to Ruben Velazquez and moved to Long
Island, NY where they had 8 children together.
Sasule was the heart and soul of the family. She loved to have her family
and friends over to cook for them, and what a great cook she was! Her
apartment was filled with love, laughter, dancing, and joy.
Sasu is preceded in death by husbands Alexandro, Ruben, and son Bobby.
Sasu is survived by her children Ruben, David, Eddie, Danny, Mikey, Edna,
Ana-Carmen and Milagros, 2 of her siblings Raymond and Tito, 24
Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren. As well as her long time
companion, Francisco.
