Hector Collet

Hector Collet was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, on May 27, 1942. Hector passed away on May 20, 2023  at the age of 80 years old in his hometown of  Bronx, NY.

Hector was known to many he loved as Veijo. Hector is survived by his lovely wife Ubelinda and his children, Hector & Kelly Collet ,Calvin & Pamela Mitchell .

Not only is Hector survived by his loving wife and children, but also by the many grandkids, sisters, brothers, neices, nephews and friends that became family.

Growing up, Hector loved spending his days taking a swim on a beach or playing baseball in Puerto Rico. Hector was the best pitcher in town, even better than Dwight Gooden !! The Mets missed out ...

If you didn't find Hector on the baseball field or taking a swim, you would find him cooking some of the best Puerto Rican dishes.

Over the past years, Hector had been faced with one of the biggest challenges of his life; his health.  Throughout this challenge, Hector showed nothing but resilience and strength. Nothing could alter the way Hector saw life, not even an illness.

Hector remained the humorous , selfless, loving and caring man we all knew. Hector lived his life by putting his family above everything. He was always there to give a helping hand, even when he didn't have it.

Hector's smile was one of the most genuine, heartfelt smiles you could ever see. His smile would light up an entire room. Hector was known for always cracking jokes and making rooms fill with laughter.

Not only did he crack jokes, he was all about his Mets!! Every day he would make sure he let his son Calvin know not even the Yankees could compare to the Mets. He would say Poto!! Y lo Yankees and laugh .

Hector has left an imprint not only on the lives of his family but all of the people he crossed paths with. Hector will live on forever in our hearts.

Let us not cry over his loss but celebrate the life he lived . Lets rejoice together and continue his legacy.
