Gloria Jean Harris

Gloria Jean Harris was born March 16, 1947 in San Fransisco California. Her parents were Helen Louise Williams and Johnny Frank Williams . She was the second oldest out of 4 kids. Robert, Gloria, Ricky & John.

During the early years Helen and Johnny moved the kids to New York, where Gloria attended P.S 119 elementary School in Harlem, NY. Later transferred to P.S 36 an all girls school on 135th located in Harlem, NY. During her time at P.S 36 she was part of the track team. Where she was an outstanding runner and had many medals.  After graduating from the all girls school she later attended Comers High School, which is now Brandeis High School. While attending Comers, she found out she was pregnant with her first born child Darlene Williams and stop attending due to her pregnancy.

After being pregnant with her first born child she had two more kids, Two boys Kevin Dillard and Terrell Harris. In the summer of 1995 she married the love of her life Ralph Brown. The start and end of her career was a nursing aide. She loved helping and taking care of other people. It was a passion of hers. In 2018 she retired from her nursing career after working for over 30 years.

Gloria was a woman of routine. She would wake up, make her coffee or tea, ask her son Terrell to walk and get her the newspaper. She would sit in her room drinking her coffee or tea with the news on while reading the paper.  Gloria loved that paper. Most days she would stay inside the house as she would say “because it wasn’t safe”. She loved watching her great grandchild Makai. That was her little broke best friend. They would sit at the park for hours, run errands, go to appointments with her, she picked him up from school, they stayed up late and ate snacks together. She loved being a mom and a great grandmother.

On February 25, 2023 Gloria gained her wings and is now reunited with the love of her life Ralph Brown and her 1st born grandson Tyrone Williams.

She is survived by her children Darlene Williams, Kevin Dillard, Terrell Harris. Her brother John Wayne. Her grandkids Anthony Williams, Charice Williams, Devin Williams, Antione Williams, Malika Williams, and Robert Williams. Her great grandkids Amayia Williams, Quadir Williams, Gabrielle Williams, Makai Williams, and Madisyn Jamison. Her best friend Bonnie Rodriguez and a host of nieces and nephews
