Gladys R Puerto, age 64, passed away peacefully in her home after a year long battle with Glioblastoma.

The story of her life is uncomplicated but required extraordinary strength.

She immigrated from Colombia and at 32 became a US citizen.

She studied accounting and graduated from Mercy College in 1992, working for her future past the age many would.

She worked in large Manhattan corporate banks, scaled down to a family business in pursuit of work-life balance, and then retired early.

Her golden years were spent eating delicious seafood, running about 2 miles most mornings, and enjoying good company.

She was a loving mother, a self-made woman, and an inspiration to everyone she came in contact with.

She is survived by a son, her siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends who will never forget her. In lieu of flowers we encourage you to donate to The American Cancer Society at cancer.org .
