Elaine Chambers

February 2, 1950 — November 21, 2021

It is with bitter sweetness that we celebrate the life and memory of Elaine M. Wilson who departed from this life and transitioned to eternal rest on Sunday, November 21, 2021.

On Friday, February 5, 1950, the Lord blessed Kathleen Locke and Vincent Wilson, now deceased with the birth of Elaine M. Wilson a native of Jamaica. She was one of five children, Dolly, Shines, Chin, and Josette (now deceased). Elaine was raised in Kingston, Jamaica where she attended school and completed her formal studies. As a teenager, she would meet and eventually marry her first love, Calbert Chambers (now deceased) on March 15, 1974.

She went on to pursue a career in nursing and obtained her certification. After finishing school, both decided to travel abroad to the Bahamas and to the United States where they settled in New York. From there union she gave birth to three sons, Carlton Chambers, Jeffrey Chambers and Clifford Chambers.

For over 30 years Elaine worked as a nurse. She was a faithful resource catering to the vulnerable needs of patients. Her care created unique and memorable experiences for everyone she encountered. It did not take much for her to say a kind or inspirational word that would lift your spirit.

“Madge” as she was affectionately called by family members will always be remembered for her contagious smile and warm heart. She appreciated and cherished every moment of life. She was a beacon of encouragement and always had a scripture to fit any occasion. Her sisters fondly remember how each phone conversation began with a prayer and word of praise before anyone could utter, “hello.” It was her way of blessing everyone before she asked how they were doing. This was just another example of her servant’s spirit and the love she had for others. As an active member of The Greater Refuge Temple Church since 1989, her faith was strong and continuously unwavering.

“Madge” adored her family and leaves memories to be cherished by her sons, Carlton Chambers, Jeffrey Chambers, Clifford Chambers; grandchildren, Jared, Jaden, Aden, Quarea; siblings, Dolly Wilson, Shines Wilson, Chin Wilson and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Sleep now mom, no more worries and no more pain.

Your job here is done. Until we meet again, sleep.

There is no foot so small that it cannot leave an imprint on this world. Thank you for leaving yours.
