Donald Gomez

March 26, 1960 — February 27, 2021

Woodrow Donald Gomez was born in Puerto Barrios, Guatemala on March 26, 1960 to
Gladstone Gomez and Ida Hall. He had five sisters and three brothers: Patricia, Olivia, Maritza,
Maria Josefina, Lorena, Gladstone, Ion and Leno.
Due to Donald’s disability he did not have many opportunities for a formal education,
however he was a beautiful, kind and loving soul. He was raised in Guatemala where he lived
with his two sisters; Olivia, Maritza, and his parents. He immigrated to the United States when
he was 29 years old where he continued walking the path of life with his mother and ultimately
his sister Olivia after his mother’s passing. He enjoyed attending church gatherings with his
mother where he praised danced and clapped along to upbeat church hymns. He loved watching
his favorite novela “Rubi”, helping with chores around the house and dancing. His favorite
holiday was Thanksgiving and we all knew how fast he could clean a plate! Most importantly
Donald was exceptionally well mannered and shared a great love for his family. He gave away
many warm hugs and fist bumps in his lifetime which I am all sure we wish we could have just
one more of. Not only was he known for wisecracking friendly jokes on his nieces and nephews
but also for igniting a room with his laughter. Donald was much loved by his family, friends and
will be immensely missed by us all.
He was called home on February 27th 2021. We his family take great comfort in knowing
that he is at peace and rejoicing in spirit with his beloved “mama”, Ida Hall. No one who met
him forgot his endearing smile and affectionate gestures. Donald did not have any children but is
survived by his many first and great nieces and nephews including Ashley, Nichole, Magan,
Kimberly, Naomi, Genesis, Amilsa, Jason, Anthony, Mariano, Steven and Foofie.

their light remains”
