Denise Warner

November 12, 1980 — June 2, 2020

Denise Cassandra Warner, the beloved daughter of Desmond and Alicia Warner, was born on November 12, 1980 in the Bronx, New York. She was born with a dislocated hip that did not slow her down and soon was a non-issue.  Denise was christened in the Bronx at Butler United Methodist Church. She attended PS 112 elementary school. At the age of ten, Denise along with her younger brother Kevin moved to her parent’s birthplace, the beautiful island of St. Kitts.  Denise’s education continued at Sandy Point Primary School and then on to Sandy Point Secondary School. She attended Sandy Point United Methodist Church where she received perfect Sunday school attendance awards.  She was a member of the Sandy Point Girls Brigade and Youth Fellowship. Denise returned to the states in 1997 and continued her education at Truman High School.

Denise and her high school sweetheart Dennis Douglas fell in love. Their love produced a beautiful baby girl, Domonique born in 1999. While raising Domonique, Denise worked as a restaurant manager and completed medical courses including phlebotomy and medical coding. Denise moved on to becoming a Phlebotomist and Health Care Assistant in the field of Nephology. After years in the medical field she moved to working in the New York Public School System as a School Lunch Helper ensuring children had healthy meals each day.

Denise was a God-fearing woman. She was a member of Crawford United Methodist Church. She loved the Lord and loved attending church. She was an active member of the Crawford Inspirational Choir. On Fridays, you could catch her at choir rehearsal and singing in the choir pews on Sunday.  When the pandemic broke, she continued to attend church service online including joining in watching her sister’s church service in Georgia. Denise liked to cook but her true passion was baking. If you ever tasted one of her cakes, you would know she was a true baker. She made the best black cakes ever. Denise’s eyes communicated to you long before her mouth would speak. Her laugh made you laugh, her smile made you smile. Those dimples were as deep as pools and freckles looked like a beautiful canvas. She loved her family and was always there when you called on her. She was there even when you didn’t call. She loved without saying I love you and she would give you the shirt off her back. Denise was a beautiful person inside and out. She was an amazing mother, sister, daughter, niece, aunt, cousin and friend.

On June 2, 2020 Denise left this earth after a long battle with diabetes and kidney failure. Denise is survived by her parents Desmond Sr. and Alicia Warner, her daughter Domonique Gwendolyn Lydia Douglas, her siblings Sharon Dillis, Sharon Leslie, Desmond Jr., and Kevin, brother-in-law Michael, her aunts Anelta and Martha, uncles Addison, Carl, John, Charles and Adonis, her nieces, Nisharma, Destiny, Laila, and Daija, and a host of loving cousins, and close relatives too numerous to list.
