Daryl Lee Schumott was born in Brooklyn, NY to Willie Mae Schumott and the late John Lee Schumott on May 11, 1954. He was the first of three children. Growing up Daryl attended NYC public schools and graduated from Aviation High School with Honors. One of his favorite experiences was attending Camp Minisink at a young age and later becoming a camp counselor. He loved playing basketball, checkers and chess and received many first place trophies for them all. Daryl worked and specialized in computer technology for many, many years. His final job was at PC Richards in Yonkers, NY where he worked until he retired. Daryl was very tech savvy. Anything that was electronic he was on it. His daughter and his nieces got all their Nintendo’s, Play Stations, X-boxes, I-Pods, I-Pads and laptops from him.
In September of 1991 he was blessed with his only child Cashmia Natasha Cook.
Daryl was the photographer of the family just like his dad. You could always count on him taking your picture whether you were ready or not. He was a Sy-Fy fanatic and he watched it day and night. Daryl loved all kinds of animals especially dogs and turtles, but most of all he loved going to amusement parks with his daughter and nieces. Another favorite pastime was going to the casino with his mom.
On December 17, 2022, Daryl celebrated 36 years of sobriety. He was a dedicated and faithful member of Narcotics Anonymous; Keep it Green, Primary Purpose and Conscious Contact, which is a virtual platform that is worldwide.
On Saturday April 29, 2023, Daryl peacefully entered into eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his father John Lee Schumott, grandmother Daisy Rawls Dyer and Grandfather Andrew Dyer. He leaves to cherish his memories his mother Willie Mae Schumott; daughter Cashmia Cook; grandson Cameren Cook; granddaughter Cassidy Cook; siblings: Michelle Cokley (Harry); Joi Schumott; nieces Yazmeen and Skyeshere Green; and a host of other relatives and friends.
