Darlene Ramona Barnhill
Affectionately known as “Dolly Doll” and “Big D”
October 31, 1956 – July 4, 2025
Darlene Ramona Barnhill was born on October 31, 1956, in the vibrant Bronx, New York, to Corrine Sweet and Jimmy Barnhill. From an early age, her charm, vivacious spirit, and unmistakable style left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She was educated through the New York City public school system and attended Central Commercial High School, where she focused on Health Education. Darlene later married Cleveland Harris Taylor, and together they built a strong and loving family, which remained the cornerstone of her life.
Darlene was a woman full of life and laughter. Known for her love of card games—especially Spades and Pokeno—she played with a playful competitiveness that made her a cherished presence at every family gathering. Her sense of humor, mischievous streak, and vibrant energy brought joy to every room she entered.
Above all, Darlene was devoted to her family. She was a loving and dedicated mother to Tawana Taylor, Cleveland Taylor, Clinton Taylor, and Monique Taylor. She took immense pride and joy in her role as grandmother to Calageio Taylor, Mason Taylor, Dakota Taylor, Jayleen Taylor, Greyson Taylor, and Savannah Taylor. Her presence in their lives was a gift, and her legacy will live on through them.
Darlene is also survived by her brother, Chris Albury, and his wife Kim; nephew TJ; Ricky Albury; grandniece Taniesha Albury; Daughter's-in-law Besa Taylor & Joanna Gonzalez, Son-in-law Jose Muniz, and a host of beloved relatives including her cousin Donna, John, Derosa, Tim, Nonee, Janice, and Chris.
A true matriarch, Darlene was known for her elegance, confidence, and impeccable sense of style. She had a natural flair for fashion and a passion for cooking that brought family and friends together. Her warmth, generosity, and infectious laugh will be remembered always.
While we mourn the loss of our beloved Darlene, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace. Her vibrant spirit lives on in each of us who were blessed to know and love her.
“Although our loss is great, we trust in the Lord—for He is the beginning and the end.”
