Cassandra Harris

July 25, 1968 — September 10, 2021

Cassandra Lynette Harris was born July 25, 1968, in Harlem, NY to the late
Jimmy Harris and Charlotte L. Coleman. Cassandra was affectionally called by her middle name
Lynette from a little girl by her family and friends. God called her home the morning of
September 10, 2021.
As a child she was raised in Forest Projects along with her siblings by their mom, Charlotte.
Lynette attended the Bronx borough school system, where she graduated from Walton H.S. in
1987 and went on to earn her Dental Assistant certification in 1989.
Lynette and the family attended Solid Rock church in the Bronx, NY where her mom was a
minister. Although she did not serve on any Auxiliary board, she enjoyed seeing the youth in
action, Pastor Hans Anderson preaching, and would support as much as possible. In 1995 she
began her 20-year plus career with Sanctuary for Families in the Bronx, where she touched
many women and children as one of the top Safety Officers. In November 2019, she stopped
working due to health issues.
Lynette was known for having long nails and dressing to impress. She loved family; hanging out
at their house and attending outings! She would often reminisce and laugh about the good ole
days…of running through the hallways with her cousins and playing scales in Forest Housing
with friends. Most of all she loved traveling and eating seafood. While the world was going
through a pandemic, she was still looking for a trip to go somewhere. Lynette had a desire to
travel everywhere possible, from Vegas to North/South Carolina or anywhere her feet would
take her. Her one pet peeve; don’t make her mad…she knew how to cut with words.
In 1994 Lynette gave birth to her pride and joy Mr. Jamal V. Miller who stood by her side during
her sickness. Although Jamal was her only child, she loved children all around her. Namely her
nephew Jaelen and niece Myracle. The three of them were her babies.
Lynette leaves to celebrate her memories her son Jamal V. Miller, Bronx, NY, her siblings, Alicia
C. Harris, Fayetteville, NC, Markus M. Harris, Bronx, NY, Dr. Franklin James, Jr. (Jody James),
Sparta, IL, Bettie James, Bronx, NY, Barbara Rozzell (Cecil), Thomasville, NC, Ronald James,
Brooklyn, NY, and Keisha Smith (Corey), Aberdeen, MD. Her nephews and nieces, Jaelen Burris,
Myracle Harris, Odell Wilson, Jerisha Perry Dillard, Shanta James, Taylor James, Corey Smith, Jr.,
and Kierra Smith. Grand nieces and nephews. Two aunts, Callie Loraine Coleman (Granny),
Bronx, NY, and Joyce Sinclair, Baltimore, MD, and one uncle, Woodrow Coleman of Whiteville,
NC and a host of Family and Friends. Special God daughter Lashay Wilson, Bronx, NY.
Preceding her in death are her father, Jimmy Harris, mother, Charlotte L. James, and Franklin
M. James.
