Brenda Valentine

A life needs not to be measured by the number of years lived, but by contribution of an individual.”

Brenda Valentine was born on April 23rd, 1969 in the village of Mahaut Dominica West Indies.

She lived the first 6 years of her life in Portsmouth where her grandmother Lucy Anthony toke care of her.  At age 7 she joined her 2 sisters in Mahaut, where they stayed with their grandma Mavis Angol and looked out and toke care of one another until they migrated to NY in 1986 to join there Mother.

Brenda graduated from Evander Childs HS in 1989 where she toke an interest in writing and then went to college in Farmingdale Long Island where she toke up Business. Brenda worked as the HR manager in many of her professional positions and later passed the exam for a NY State which landed her a position at the Town Of Rye.

She enjoyed traveling, sewing, baking and cooking.  Brenda went out of her way to help others even at her own expense.  Brenda was a determined and persistence young lady there’s nothing she couldn’t do no matter how hard a job she would try it.  Even during here illness she wanted to do everything for herself.  One would ask her if she need anything or help and she would say “ no I got it it’s ok!

Despite her busy schedule, Brenda was dedicated and devoted to her family especially her daughter Shakeema. She played an active role in her daughter’s live until her death. She was a loving and caring mother, daughter, sister, and auntie.
She died peacefully on December 3, 2022 at the Calvary Hospital in Bronx.

She will never be forgotten.
