Late Mr Benjamin Olufemi Adegbite was born into a Christian family on March 4, 1949 to Pa
Samuel Eruobodo Adegbite and Mrs Segilola Adegbite of Opalala Compound, Modakeke, Ile-
Ife. Osun State, Nigeria. Late Benjamin was the last of three children born by her mother. Late
Benjamin’s mother was originally married to Pa Olagunju with whom she had her first born
named Mr Olatoye Moses Olagunju. Upon the death of Pa Olagunju, Benjamin’s mother was
betrothed to Pa Samuel Eruobodo Adegbite with whom she gave birth to Late Mrs Faderera
Ayoka Adelowo {Nee Adegbite}. Late Benjamin’s father had four wives with late Benjamin’s
mother being number two. Late Benjamin was the 4th child in a group of nine children and
second male child of the family. However, late Benjamin was the first child to travel abroad in
the family.
Late Benjamin attended St Stephen’s Primary School in Itasin, Modakeke and passed with good
grades in December 1960. Thereafter, he proceeded to Modakeke High School where he passed
out and obtained his West African School Certificate in December, 1969. In the year 1970, he
was employed by the Daily Times of Nigeria where he worked until he traveled abroad to USA
in 1976. During late Benjamin’s academic career, Late Pa Adegboye and Late Mrs Eunice
Gbadero Akinrinola {Nee Adegbite} gave him adequate financial and moral supports. The late
Benjamin is survived by his wife, children, and extended family.
Education was a very important factor in the late Benjamin's life. Soon after arriving in the
U.S., he enrolled into Florida Memorial University. Later on, he attended Minnesota Law
School. The late Benjamin realized that law was not his calling and decided to pursue a
Master's Degree in Banking and Finance at Pace University. After settling down in the US, late
Benjamin really supported his junior brothers and sisters financially across the larger family in
Nigeria. He was similarly supportive financially and morally to his immediate blood relations
as well as all those who approached him for financial assistances. All those he financed their
schooling, as well as technical training, are successful in their various callings with roofs over
their heads in towns and cities across many States in Nigeria.
Although Benjamin Olufemi Adegbite is gone, yet, his heart of gold, smiles of pure joy as well
as a kindness that extended to all, shall never be forgotten in a hurry. May his gentle soul rest
in peace. Amen.
