Leonne Lyons known to many as Fe'Fe' , Iphetine, Madame Edward , The
"Haitian Madea" and LL. Mrs. Lyons was a Queen who had a heart of gold
.
She was born on July 14, 1936 in Cap-Haitien, Haiti. Her mother had
five children not including Leonne . Her father served in the military
for his country.
Leonne had five siblings; three sisters and one brother, whom she
loved very much . Although she was the middle child, she was referred
to as the big sister .They came to her for any and everything. She was
a confidant and a friend .They would even wash her feet when they saw
her; Purely out of Love. Their bond was unbreakable .
Leonne was a God fearing woman and was a member of Central Baptist
church in Manhattan. She was the matriarch of the family , the voice
of reason, the glue that held the pieces together. She was a pillar of
the community and she helped raise an entire community of children . She
was often referred to as the "Mother Goose " of the neighborhood. She
helped family members and friends to migrate from Haiti to "The
States". She was a firm believer that it "takes a village".
She loved to travel , listen to music , making jokes and told you what
it is ,like it is ,when it was! She loved to play dominoes. Crowds
would gather in front of the building or in the house just to watch
her play and to take a shot at beating her. No one ever did... .
"Queen" Leonne Lyons is survived by a host of family, friends and
community associates and her only brother Hubert Charles,
She is predeceased by her husband Edward Lyons and will be laid to
rest beside him at Calverton Cemetery.
