Addie Ruth Franklin Pennington was born to the late Willie Clarence Franklin and Addie Lou Hall Franklin in Union Springs, Alabama on Feburary 16, 1936. God called her home on February 10, 2015.
Addie accepted Christ at a young age. She travelled around South Alabama to many churches and places to sing songs. She loved to sing. After the death of her parents, Addie and her siblings came to Birmingham Alabama to live with their relatives because they all were very young.
Years later, Addie met and eventually married Eddie Lee Pennington Sr. She gave birth to six beautiful children named Yvonne Pennington Caldwell (Charlie), Carolyn Elaine Pennington Brown(Mike), Brenda Joyce Pennington, Deborah Pennington, Eddie (Mann) Lee Pennington Jr., and Valerie Jean Pennington- Reyes (Pedro).
In 1968, Addie moved to New York and raised her children as a home maker. She enjoyed watching television, collecting and lovingly displaying pictures and cards from her family. She had a generous heart and keen sense of a person's true nature. Though she suffered a grave loss when her daughter, Deborah passed away, Addie remained a strong matriarch of her family.
Addie is survived by 1 brother, Jim Franklin and 1 sister, Alice Louise Spencer. She is preceded in death by brothers Willie Clarence Franklin Jr. and Walter Franklin.
