Daniel “Danny” Cruz Jr. Devoted Father, Husband, Son, Brother & Friend Daniel “Danny” Cruz Jr., born and raised in Arverne, died on May 30, 2014. He was 40. Danny, who was born at St. John's Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway on April 22, 1974, was the second of two children to parents Daniel Cruz, Sr. and Mercedes Cruz. He was a Rockaway resident for over 20 years before moving to the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, where he settled with his wife and children. He was a devoted husband to his wife Tynisha and devoted father to his three daughters Téa, Savana and Angel. His family was everything to him and you would never see him without one or all of his daughters by his side. He was not just their father but their constant companion, their protector and their world. He loved cars especially Hondas, was a member of the Ghost Card Auto Club and loved to take road trips. He was also a fan of the New York Yankees, The Brooklyn Nets and The New York Jets. Danny touched many lives with his contagious smile, sense of humor and loyal, dependable character. He was affectionately known as “Smokey” to his friends, who viewed Danny as not just a friend but a brother. He will be missed greatly by so many. Danny was preceded in death by his father Daniel Cruz Sr, who passed away in 2011. He is survived by his wife, Tynisha Rogers-Cruz; children, Téa Cruz, Savana Cruz and Angel Cruz; mother, Mercedes Cruz; sister, Marcy Cruz as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Danny will be buried at Cypress Hills Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY. Danny was an organ donor so in his death, he has saved lives with his precious gift and continues to live on in others.
